  • How does coaching differ from psychotherapy?
Coaching is for people who are basically successfully navigating life and want to focus on building resilience, realizing their potential, and thriving. Coaching focuses on well-being, growth, achieving your potential and fulfilling your purpose in life. Coaching helps you to get in touch with your own resources, wisdom and solutions. My coaching particularly helps people to get in touch with the wisdom of their bodies (somatic approach) and mindfulness skills. Psychotherapy treats mental disorders (anxiety disorders, PTSD, major depressive disorder, schizophrenia). Psychotherapy focuses on alleviating symptoms of these disorders and restore functioning using evidence-based approaches for treating symptoms and disorders. Psychotherapy is provided by a licensed mental health professional. Signs that you would be better served by psychotherapy rather than life coaching include: 1) Suicide attempt in past 5 years or being actively suicidal currently. 2) Want to treat symptoms of a mental disorder. 3) Have been diagnosed with an eating disorder such as bulimia or anorexia, a psychotic disorder, or a personality disorder such as borderline personality disorder. 4) Have intense emotional swings where you often need help between scheduled therapy sessions
  • What does a coach do?
A coach partners with people who are on a journey of discovery, self-exploration, accountability and follow through. A coach’s job is mostly to help people discover their own resources and unrealized potential to help them handle challenges and achieve their goals. A coach may also help people to develop new skills.
  • What about confidentiality?
A client's identity, relationship, and session content are strictly confidential except in a situation where such confidentiality would violate the law such as harm to self or others as well as child or elder abuse.
  • How long does coaching take to see results?
Achieving the results desired and expected by the Client and Coach normally takes time. In order for coaching to be most effective, time must be allowed for changes, results and integration to occur in the client’s life. Within a period of three months, clients should start to see some benefits from coaching if they are going to occur. If the client is not seeing some benefits, the client should consider other options for achieving the client’s goals
